Professional social work is focused on problem solving and change. As such social workers are change agents in society and in the lives of the individual, families, communities they serve. It responds to crises and emergencies as well as to activities consistent with its holistic focused on person and their environment. Social work intervention range from primarily person focused on psychological processes to involvement in social policy, planning, and development. These include counselling, clinical social, social work, group work, social pedagogical work, family treatment and therapy as well as effort to help people obtain service and resources in the community. Students are also trained in SPSS, which gives them a competitive advantage to execute action research and impact assessments projects.

The department of Social Work was started in 2010 and offers a post graduate degree M.S.W – Masters in Social Work. BWDA Arts College offers the right platform for students pursuing a career in social works as they are exposed to development initiatives of BWDA an NGO. This gives them hands on experience and a competitive advantage.
